1412043 Beds for vehicles TOYOTA SHATAI KK 5 Sept 1973 [7 Sept 1972] 41681/73 Heading B7B In a vehicle having living space 3 an upper bed deck 7 is stowable in a horizontal position adjacent the roof wall 1b the deck being held in this position by rollers which engage in channel rails 9a, 9b fitted to the ceiling. In one embodiment two upper bed decks 7, 8 are provided, the latter being stowed adjacent a side wall 1a by means of a pivotally mounted 24 and a catch 25. The channel section rails extend across the ceiling wall 1b and down each side wall 1a, 1b and rollers 12b, (12a) (Figs. 2, 3, not shown), at one side of deck 7 are respectively mounted in rails 9b, 9a. Openings 16b (16a) are provided in the rails 9b, 9a to allow the respective entry of rollers 13b (13a) at the other side of deck 7, the openings being closable by sliding covers 17b (17a). To stow the bed it is first pivoted about rollers 12b (12a), the rollers 13b (13a) inserted into rails 9a, 9b and then slid to its position adjacent the roof wall. Stops 14b (14a) and 15b (15a) are respectively provided for the rollers 12b (12a) and 13b (13a), and notches 93b (93a) in the rails engage rollers 12b (12a) to prevent transverse movement of the stowed deck. When in use the decks 7, 8 are supported at one end on a projection 41 of a wall 40 and at the other end by hook members 23 screwed to the decks which engage a shelf 20. Alternatively the decks may be suspended from chains when in use. The rails 9a, 9b may be continuous or be constituted by separate roof and side wall parts. In another arrangement the side wall sections of the rails may be omitted so that after insertion of the rollers 13b (13a) into the rails the other side of the deck has to be lifted and separately affixed to the roof wall. In a further embodiment both bed decks 7, 8, Fig. 14, are mounted so as to be stowed adjacent the roof. The living space of the vehicle is provided with seats 6 which are adapted to form a lower bed deck.
