Abstract

1411622 Microscope adjustment devices MALIES INSTRUMENTS Ltd 22 Nov 1973 [22 Nov 1972] 54068/72 Heading G2J A microscope having a fine focus adjustment including wheel 6, Fig.3 and cam 3 driven by worm 5 has the wheel coupled to the cam through a torque limiter. Stepped disc 10, Fig.2 is held in recess 9 in wheel 6 by washer 13 and screws 14 and compresses at least one wave washer 16 between the bottom 9 of the recess and the end 17 of the disc. Pins 19 on the end of the smaller diameter step of disc 10 engage holes 20 in cam 3 and the whole assembly is retained on shaft 21 by circlip 22. Excessive force applied to adjustment knob 8 when the moving part of the microscope is against an end stop will rotate wheel 6. against the friction of the wave washers slipping on disc 10.
