Abstract

1411563 Optic fibre arrays KODAK Ltd 25 Jan 1973 [27 Jan 1972] 3937/72 Heading G2J A method of forming an optic fibre array, which may be linear or area, comprises forming a pattern of grooves or apertures in a substrate and locating and securing an optic fibre in each groove or aperture, e.g. by means of a cement, which preferably incorporates a pigment, e.g. carbon black. The fibres are preferably preformed and are clad with a material having a low index of refraction. The pattern is preferably formed by photo-resist methods combined with etching or plating, but may be formed by cutting.
