Abstract
1411205 Eddy-current retarder rotors LABAVIA-SGE 31 Jan 1974 [16 Feb 1973] 04650/74 Heading H2A In an eddy-current retarder rotor comprising a magnetic annulus 1 which is the site of the eddy currents and is connected to a central hub 2, and curved ventilation and cooling fins 4 connected to the annulus and extending over its entire radial width the edges of the fins remote from the annulus being connected to a common rim 6 whose inside diameter is greater than that of the annulus, each fin 4 comprises two successive radial zones A, C curved in opposite directions and connected to one another without discontinuity by an intermediate zone B of inflexion. The connection to the hub 2 is made by arms 3 which are extensions of some of the fins whose entry and exit angles e, s are detailed in the Specification. The rim 6, and possibly also the annulus 1, may be frusto-conical, and form cooling ducts, whilst in another embodiment the fins are oppositely curved from that shown.
