1410593 Dinitrophenol derivatives MURPHY CHEMICAL Ltd 4 Oct 1972 [11 Oct 1971] 47306/71 Heading C2C [Also in Division A5] A dinitrophenol derivative of formula wherein R is a hydrogen atom, an inorganic or organic cation, or the group R<SP>1</SP>CO wherein R<SP>1</SP> is an aliphatic hydrocarbon group having 1-6 carbon atoms or a phenyl group, may be obtained by reacting 2-isopropyl-5-methyl-4,6- dinitrophenol or a functional derivative thereof with an acid R<SP>1</SP>COOH or an acylating derivative thereof. Examples illustrate the preparations of 2-isopropyl-5-methyl-4,6-dinitrophenyl propionate, isobutyrate, acetate, n-butyrate and benzoate. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 1,080,282.
