1410528 Gas discharge display panels OWENS-ILLINOIS Inc 18 Aug 1972 [19 Aug 1971 1 May 1972] 38556/72 Heading H1D A gas discharge panel comprising at least two electrodes has at least one electrode insulated from the gas by a dielectric "containing" at least one rare earth element selected from La, Ce, Pr, Nd, Pm, Sm, Gd, Tb, Dy, Ho, Er, Tm, Yb, Lu, Sc and Y in elemental or compound form. The rare earth may be in the form of an oxide, salt or photo-luminescent phosphor and may be contained in one or more layers on or within the dielectric. The panel may be a display/memory panel with orthogonal arrays of parallel electrodes separated from the gas by dielectric sheets " containing " a rare earth as specified above.
