Abstract

1410519 Diazotype materials IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd 1 Nov 1973 [3 Nov 1972] 50690/72 Heading G2C A diazotype material comprises either (a) a support, an optional subbing layer and a layer of a diazonium compound and a binder or (b) a support and a thermoplastics layer impregnated with a diazonium compound or, if the support is impregnatable, impregnating the support with the diazonium compound; the material containing in the diazonium layer, the thermoplastics layer or in an overcoat on the diazonium or thermoplastics layer, a butadiene/acrylonitrile copolymer as antislip agent in an amount of 0.5-30 mg/dm<SP>2</SP> and being applied from a solution which contains 0.1-5 wt per cent of the copolymer based on the total weight of the solution. In the examples, (1) a polyester support with a cellulose acetate butyrate layer is impregnated with a 2-component diazotype solution containing 1 wt per cent of the copolymer, and (2) a cellulose diacetate support is coated with a 2-component diazotype solution containing a cellulose acetate binder and the copolymer. The diazotype layer may contain silica or glass powder or other binders e.g. vinyl polymers and other cellulose esters.
