Abstract

1409625 Anodizing aluminium FUJI PHOTO FILM CO Ltd 1 June 1973 [3 June 1972] 26366/73 Heading C7B [Also in Division G2] An aluminium or aluminium alloy plate is anodized using an aqueous solution of 5-50 wt per cent trisodium phosphate at 20-40‹C, 5-20 volts, and 0.8-3 ASD for 3-10 minutes. For use as a printing plate treatment of the plate e.g. of Al, or Al alloy with Cu, Zn, Mg, or Fe, may include prior graining of the surface, e.g. by brushing; cleaning using sodium hydroxide and ammonium bifluoride, or degreasing agent such as trisodium phosphate, trichlorostyrene or carbon tetrachloride; anodizing as above; e.g. using a lead or aluminium cathode; coating with a polymer such as polyvinyl alcohol, polyacrylamide, polyvinyl, pyrrolidone, gelatine, hydroxyethyl cellulose, carboxymethyl cellulose, casein or sodium alginate; coating with a light sensitive material e.g. cinnamic acid ester (other examples given) and exposing to form a desired pattern. The light sensitive material may include a sensitizer nitroacenaphthene or trinitrofluorenone and copper phthalocyanine as pigment,
