Abstract

1409550 Steering wheels SOC ANON AUTOMOBILES CITROEN 20 Sept 1972 [20 Sept 1971] 43650/72 Heading B7J A steering wheel member comprises a metal tube curved into a ring shape to form a rim 1 whose separate ends 2, 3 are bent inwards to form a pair of opened arms 5, 6, and a plate 4, attachable to a vehicle steering column and welded to the ends 2, 3 so that the plate is provided to and set back relative to the medial plane of the rim 1, the arms 5 and 6 diverging slightly while remaining in the plane of the rim and being bent back on themselves out of the medial plane of the rim in virtually converging planes which are oblique to the axis of the steering column when the member is fitted thereto. The angle between the ends 2, 3 is 60 degrees. The wheel member is sheathed with plastics as described with reference to Figs. 4 and 5 (not shown), to form a steering wheel.
