Abstract

1409453 Printers SCM CORP 8 May 1973 [18 Sept 1972] 21983/73 Heading G4H [Also in Division B6] Control circuitry, for a printer (see also Division B6) in which a character drum 3 and a record medium supporting drum 1 rotate such that on each successive revolution of the character drum a given line 6a of character types comes into operative relationship with a different printline location 7a on the record medium 7 thereby building up a page of print, comprises a main memory 29 holding an entire page of information. The printing of a page is dependent on receipt of a start pulse 43, a paper edge pulse 42 generated by a paper edge marker 44, and a font start pulse 41 generated by a font start marker 46. Font position pulses 40 generated by font markers 45 are counted and translated at 20, 21 and enter a comparator 30 to drive drivers 38 causing selected characters on the drum to be energized at the appropriate time to lay down an electrostatic charge image on medium 7.
