Abstract

1409252 Roller web filter TROX GmbH Gebr 26 Oct 1972 [26 Oct 1971] 49443/72 Heading BIT A roller web filter 1 for installation in a duct is characterised by a method of manufacture involving completing the wiring up of the electrical control circuitry for the filter, so that during installation of it in the duct no further wiring up is required except to connect an electrical power supply to an input of the electrical control circuitry. The filter comprises a frame 2, a means for mounting a filter web supply roll 3, means for mounting a filter web winding roll 7, drive means 10, 11, 12, 14 including an electric motor for rotating the latter to draw the web across the frame from the supply roll and the electrical control means for control of the filter movement. The control means comprises switches for controlling the motor, means 19 for detecting the degree of soiling of the web, e.g. a pressure gauge arranged to measure the pressure difference on either side of the web and connected to a pressure sensor mounted on the frame, and means 23 for detecting exhaustion of the web supply, the various control elements being connected by wiring incorporating plug and socket means, e.g. 24. In operation, the web is advanced intermittently in response to a predetermined pressure drop across the central part 4 of the web in use for filtering gases flowing in the duct. Advancement of the web may be automatic or a warning may be given when advancement is necessary.
