Abstract

1407765 Discharge lamps MULTIBLITZ DR ING D A MANNESMANN GmbH & CO KG 27 April 1973 [6 May 1972] 20095/73 Addition to 1346521 Heading H1D [Also in Divisions H2 and F4] A flash tube 10 has electrode chambers 14, 16 each of which has a volume at least equal to that of the discharge channel 12. The pressure inside the tube is greater than 600 mm. of mercury and the tube is mounted in a reflector 22. Cooling air from a blower passes through a duct 24 to cool the chambers 14, 16 but not the channel 12 which becomes heated and emits infra-red radiation. The tube is made of synthetic quartz glass which has a high transmissivity for ultra violet and infra-red radiation.
