Abstract
1407255 Cameras EASTMAN KODAK CO 13 Sept 1972 [13 Sept 1971 (2)] 42594/72 Heading G2A A camera is operable at high illumination in a first mode in which the shutter opens for a fixed period, at lower illumination in a second mode in which a detent 61 holds the shutter open for a photo-electrically determined period and preferably at even lower illumination in a third mode in which flash is used and the detent holds the shutter open for a photo-electrically determined period adjusted according to object distance. In the first mode a trigger circuit 92 is non-conductive and hence an electromagnet 70 is switched off. When an impeller arm 56 is rotated anti-clockwise to move a shutter actuating lever 58 it allows a spring 76 to rotate an armature 68 clockwise and thereby move the detent 61 to an inoperative position in which it cannot retain the lever 58. Lever 58 is returned by springs (36, 46), Fig.1 (not shown) to close the shutter. In the second mode the trigger circuit 92 is conductive and hence electromagnet 70 is energized to hold armature 68 for a photo-electrically timed period, the dentent 61 retaining lever 58 until armature 68 is released. In the third mode trigger circuit 92 and another trigger circuit (118), Fig.7 (not shown) are conductive, the latter energizing a low light indicator lamp (97). Insertion of a flash-lamp switches a resistor (130) into the control circuit and focusing on close objects switches in a further resistor (131). Shutter operation in the third mode is otherwise the same as in the second. The lamp (97) is extinguished on shutter closure to indicate exposure termination. The shutter of Figs. 1 and 2 (not shown) is claimed in Specification 1407256.
