Abstract

1406996 Dyes containing an azidosulphonyl group KODAK Ltd 26 Oct 1972 [29 Oct 1971 8 June 1972] 50339/71 and 26795/72 Heading C4P Novel dyestuffs of the formula wherein D is the radical of a dyestuff D-R<SP>1</SP>; R<SP>1</SP> is OH or NH 2 ; R is a divalent aromatic, aliphatic, cycloaliphatic or heterocyclic group; and A is -O-CO-, -O-CO-NH-, -NH-CO- or -NH-CO-NH or, when R is a heterocyclic group of the formula (in which Z represents the atoms necessary to complete a triazine or pyrimidine ring), A is -O- or -NH-, are prepared by condensing D-R<SP>1</SP> with R<SP>2</SP>-R-R<SP>3</SP> wherein R<SP>2</SP> is-COCl or -NCO or, when R is a heterocyclic group as depicted above, R<SP>2</SP> is -Cl, and R<SP>3</SP> is -SO 2 Cl or -SO 2 N 3 , followed, when R<SP>3</SP> is -SO 2 Cl, by reaction with NaN 3 or by reaction with hydrozine hydrate followed by treatment with nitrous acid. Dyestuffs of the monoazo series and of the anthaquinone series are described, and disazo, nitro diphenylamine and methine dyes are also referred to. Nylon is the only specified substrate for dying.
