Abstract
1406850 Hydraulic control circuits CATERPILLAR TRACTOR CO 13 Dec 1972 [13 Dec 1971] 57580/72 Heading FIP [Also in Division F2] A control system for a hydrostatic transmission having a pump 14 supplying a motor or jack 11 through a manually controlled reversing and throttle valve 28 comprises forward and reverse automatic brake valves 53, 53 which throttle the motor or jack exhaust during over-run. In the neutral position of the valve spool 29, as shown, a pump supply line 22 is connected directly to an exhaust line 33 and the motor or jack supply and return lines 51, 51' are blocked to hold the motor 11 or jack stationary. Movement of the valve spool 28 right (or left) provides a throttled connection between the pump supply line 22, 42 and the motor or jack supply line 51 (or 51') for forward (or reverse) drive. The valve spool 29 additionally connects the motor or jack exhaust line 51' (or 51) to exhaust lines 55', 54' (or 55, 54) containing the brake valve 53' (or 53). During normal forward (or reverse) drive the brake valve 53' (or 53) is held open against the bias of a spring by pressure liquid supplied through a line 73' (or 73) from the motor or jack supply line 51 (or 51'). During motor or jack, over-run the pressure in the supply line 51 (or 51 ) drops and thus the pressure acting on the brake valve 53' (or 53) is reduced to permit the valve spring to move the brake valve to a position in which it throttles motor or jack exhaust for braking. A one-way valve 43 prevents liquid return from the motor or jack to the pump. High pressure relief valve 76, 76 and anticavitation valves 77, 77 are provided between the motor or jack supply and exhaust lines.
