Abstract

1405968 Red chromium-containing azo dyes NIPPON KAYAKU KK 3 Sept 1973 [18 Sept 1972] 41384/73 Heading C4P The dyes have the formula wherein A and B stand for the groups R<SP>2</SP> and R<SP>4</SP> stand for phenyl or naphthyl groups both R<SP>1</SP> and R<SP>3</SP> stand for phenyl or one stands for phenyl and the other methyl, and both A and B may be substituted by methyl or ethyl, methoxy or ethoxy, nitro or halogen, and when R<SP>1</SP>, R<SP>2</SP>, R<SP>3</SP> and R<SP>4</SP> stand for phenyl they may be similarly substituted, and either A or R<SP>2</SP> is substituted by -SO 3 H, and M stands for an alkali or alkaline earth metal. The dyes are prepared by reacting a 1 : 1 chromium compound of either one of the two dyes involved with the corresponding non-metallized dye. The dyes may be used with animal materials such as silk, leather and especially wool, but also for dyeing and printing synthetics such as polyamide, polyurethane and polyacrylonitrile as well as mixtures such as wool/polyamide.
