1405509 Sterilising contact lenses HYDROPHILICS INTERNATIONAL INC 22 March 1973 [15 May 1972 6 Nov 1972] 13877/73 Heading A5G Articles shaped to lie in contact with the eye, e.g. contact lenses, made of a soft, hydrophilic polymer. material, e.g. methylmethacrylate (75-92%)-acrylic acid (8-25%) copolymers the acid groups of which have been neutralised after polymerisation, are sterilised by contacting them with a solution, e.g. an aqueous solution of a material which releases active halogen, the said material, at its concentration in the solution, being non-injurious to the eye and to the polymer. Suitable materials are chlorinated trisodium phosphate, sodium dichlorocyanurate, trichloro-s-triazinetrione and its potassium salt.
