Abstract
1405504 Automatic electric control of speed WERKZEUGMASCHINENFABRIK OERLIKONBUEHRLE AG 27 Nov 1972 [10 Dec 1971] 54685/72 Heading G3N A pulse multiplier 2 is provided between a controlling oscillator 1 and a digital summation (comparator) unit 3 of a control system for the motor driving the slide of a machine tool. The motor 8 drives an optical tachometer disc 9 to generate pulses in photo-cell 11 which are subtracted from the command pulses supplied to unit 3 from multiplier 2 to produce an error signal which gradually decays as the motor approaches the required position and the number of tachometer pulses equals the number of command pulses. When the error signal is zero the motor stops and the machine slide should be in the required position. The repetition rate of the tachometer pulses corresponds to the speed of the motor. The error signal is passed through a D/A converter 4 and PID amplifier 5 to a thyristor firing control 6 for motor 8.
