Abstract

1405502 Buckles THOMAS WALKER Ltd 8 Oct 1973 [15 Nov 1972] 52648/72 Heading E2A A buckle comprises a pair of clamping plates 10 and a lever grip member 11 which is pivotally connected adjacent each end to a respective clamping plate the ends of the lever grip member 11 having each a gripping portion for a portion of a strap between the respective clamping plate and gripping portion whereby two different portions of strap may be simultaneously clamped when the buckle is closed and the gripping member 11 clamps the strap portions against the clamping plates. The lever grip member 11 has two pairs of trunnions 25 which pivotally engage in apertures in lugs 14 extending laterally of the clamping plates. The lever grip member has teeth 22 on side flanges 20, the teeth may be long or short or may be pointed and clamp the strap portions when the clamping plates are pressed together so that inclined edges 15 of the lugs abut. Pulling the clamping plates apart releases the strap portions, one clamping plate may have a terminal tongue 31 to facilitate release. The front clamping plate 10b may have a separate decorative plate attached by rivets 36 engaged in holes 35 in the plate 10b.
