Abstract

1405164 Helicopter M VALSAMIDIS 17 Nov 1972 53348/72 Headings B7G and B7W A helicopter comprises a seat 4 for one or more persons, located below which is a turbofan engine 5 supplying compressed air to be exhausted through the tips of the hollow blades of one or more rotors 1, the size of the craft being such that horizontal movement is effected by bodily movements of the persons on the seat, shifting the centre of gravity of the craft and thereby tilting the rotor disc. There may be two counter-rotating rotors; alternatively there may be a single rotor, rotation of the craft being prevented by a jet of air or by a rudder fin. The collective pitch of the rotors can be adjusted by levers 16, and the craft has an undercarriage (10), Fig. 3 (not shown), with wheels (10a) driven by an air motor (11) supplied by the engine 5.
