Abstract
1404500 Storage stabilization of enzymes STANDARD BRANDS Inc 20 Oct 1972 [22 Oct 1971] 48464/72 Heading C3H A method of improving the storage stability of enzymes comprises treating the enzymes in presence of moisture with an effective amount of a compound of the formula wherein R 1 is a radical containing at least 10 carbon atoms, R 2 is a radical containing 1-20 carbon atoms, and R 3 and R 4 are radicals containing not more than 6 carbon atoms; the radicals being alkyl, substituted alkyl, alkenyl, aryl, substituted aryl, aralkyl and saturated or unsaturated cyclic radicals in which the cyclic grouping is formed by joining R 3 and R 4 together with the nitrogen atom, and when the cyclic radical is unsaturated, there is no R 2 . The enzyme may be glucose, isomerase, alphaamylase, alpha-1,6-glucosidase, catalase, malt enzyme glycose oxidase or cellulose. The preferred compound used is wherein X is a halide radical and n is 12, 14 or 16.
