Abstract

1404362 Stabilized polychloroprene IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd 27 Feb 1973 [31 Jan 1972] 4348/72 Heading C3P Polychloroprene is stabilized against oxone attack by adding thereto a dihydropyran of formula in which R<SP>1</SP> and R<SP>2</SP> are H or methyl, and R is an unsaturated group. A wide variety of R groups is specified. Suitable compounds include inter alia acrolein tetramer and the compounds described and claimed in Specification's 1,094,926; 1,084,077; 1,076,939; 1,071,816; and 1,067,782. In the example, a polychloroprene composition also containing carbon black, processing oil and vulcanizing additives is stabilized by either acrolein tetramer or 6- acrylamidomethyl-2,3-dihydropyran.
