Abstract

1403919 Vehicle-wash detergent compositions BASF WYANDOTTE CORP 13 Dec 1972 [13 Dec 1971] 57425/72 Heading C5D A single-phase liquid vehicle-wash detergent composition, which is biodegradable and phosphate-free, comprises (A) as sole surfactant a non-ionic surfactant which is an oxyalkylated linear aliphatic alcohol or mixture thereof, (B) an inorganic and/or organic builder, (C) a hydrotrope, (D) a cellulose soil suspending agent, (E) water, and optionally, (F) a moldicide. (A) is a surfactant of formula R-O(A) n H wherein R is C 8 -C 20 linear alkyl and A n is a number of oxyethylene groups or a mixture of oxyethylene groups and oxypropylene groups in a ratio by wt. of 0À5 : 1 to 7 : 1. (B) may be a sodium or potassium sulphate, gluconate, citrate, lactate, tartrate, glucoheptonate or metasilicate. (C) may be a C 2 to C 4 alcohol with 1 to 3 hydroxyl groups. (F) may be sodium benzoate. Concentrates contain 2 to 5 parts of (A); 1 to 5 parts of (B); 2 to 6 parts of (C); 0À2 to 1 part of (D); 0À2 to 1 part of (F); and 82 to 95 parts of (E). In use, for washing vehicles in a stall-type vehicle-washing system, the concentrate is diluted with 30 to 150 parts of water.
