1403287 Promoting abscission of fruit CIBA GEIGY AG 18 April 1973 [19 April 1972] 18795/73 Heading C1B A method of promoting the abscission of citrus fruits comprises applying to at least part of the citrus plants 4 to 20 days before harvesting when the fruit is nearly ripe at least one compound of the Formula I wherein: R 1 represents an alkyl or alkenyl radical having 8 to 16 carbon atoms, R 2 and R 3 each independently represent hydrogen, or an alkyl radical having 1 to 12 carbon atoms, which can be substituted by amino, alkyl- or dialkylamino; or a salt of said compound of Formula I. The preferred compounds are dimethyldodecylamine hydrochloride, decylamine, dodecylamine, tridecylamine, nonylamine, hexadecylamine and octylamine.
