Abstract

1403084 Rendering fibrous materials antistatic SANDOZ LTD 21 Aug 1972 [25 Aug 1971] 38803/72 Heading DIP [Also in Division C3] Synthetic polymer fibres and fabrics are rendered antistatic by treatment with aqueous dispersions comprising polyaddition products obtained from polyglycol diepoxides: (in which R<SP>1</SP> is H or CH 3 and m = 1-40) and amides: (in which R is C 1-21 alkyl, x and y are each 0, 1, 2 or 3, p is 1, 2, 3 or 4 and n, a, b and d are each 2 or 3. The products have a viscosity at 20‹C of 50 to 20000 cp. Derivatives obtained by treating the products with acids, e.g. hydrochloric, acetic or formic acid are also disclosed. The products may be obtained by reacting I and II in a ratio of active amino hydrogen atoms to epoxy groups of 1:0.5 to 1:2. Examples relate to the treatment of nylon, polyester and polyacrylinitrile fabrics.
