Abstract
1403011 Wells &c J L RIKE 19 July 1972 [21 July 1971] 33713/72 Heading E1F The flow of sand into a well is controlled by:-injecting into a production zone 112 a sand consolidation adhesive 121, forcing a particulate material 122 into the zone after the adhesive, and producing through the consolidated sand and particulate material. The adhesive may be a thermoplastic resin which is injected in two steps, the first the resin and the second the curing agent. The particulate material (gravel) is introduced after the second step, towards the ends of the second step, or with an after-flush stream after the second step. A screen 123 may support the particulate material. In the dual completion shown in Fig. 12 a screen 147 is placed in the production tubing 144. The injection of particulate material may be carried out in a well which has previously been treated with a sand consolidation adhesive. Wells which have been fractured, or subjected to acid, surfactant or solvent treatment, may be treated in accordance with the invention.
