Abstract

1402121 Measuring riders for cycles RALEIGH INDUSTRIES Ltd. 3 Nov 1972 [31 Jan 1972 30 June 1972] 50748/72 Heading G1M [Also in Division A6] An apparatus for measuring a rider for a bicycle or for use as an exercising machine, comprises a frame mounting two pillars 22, 24 vertically movable simultaneously in fixed relationship by a motor 43 and gear box 21 driving a chain 31. The seat and handlebars are interchangeable and pivotable and the handlebars are also adjustable along a slide 32. Scales such as 44, 48 are provided for both the bars and the seat, and readings from these along with information as to the style of frame, handlebars and seat required may be used with or without a chart to determine the size of cycle required. Various sized pedals are adjustably positioned and associated with a frictional dragmember, 41, 47 see also Fig. 4. The shafts 22, 24 are originally adjusted at a selected height with respect to each other, and the motor 43 may be associated with limit switches and may also be used to rotate the crank shaft 40 to provide an effortless exerciser.
