1401756 Manhole covers and frames E B HERBERT 23 Oct 1972 [22 Oct 1971] 49160/ 71 Heading E1G A frame 7 for a rectangular manhole or access cover 1, or for a series of such covers, Fig. 3 (not shown), has in two opposed walls 6 recesses 5 with sloping sides 4 receiving wedging end seating lugs 3 on the cover(s), each cover being supported solely by a single wedging lug 3 projecting symmetrically from each of its shorter sides. The frame shown has end recesses 9 for prising and external road-keying recesses forming thin walls connecting full thickness corner portions 10.
