Abstract

1400398 Pipe insulation L WYNNE & CO (MANCHESTER) Ltd 7 Sept 1972 [22 Sept 1971 19 April 1972] 44127/71 and 18013/72 Heading F2P [Also in Division B5] A thermal insulation jacket 1 comprises a layer 4 of thermally insulating material, e.g. glass fibres surrounded by a composite sheet material comprising a layer 2 of polyisobutylene and a layer 3 of flexible, but substantially inextensible natural or synthetic material mesh 3, e.g. a cotton scrim affixed thereto. In the embodiment shown, the composite layer is cut at 7 to enable it to be placed around a pipe 5, a further cut being provided at 6 to form a hinge. Alternatively, the composite layer may be in two halves with the cut 7 extending therethrough. Suitable alternative materials for the layer 4 are polystyrene, polyurethane, mineral wool or calcium silicate. The mesh may alternatively be a nylon scrim.
