Abstract

1400298 Interlocking switches B WENNERSTEN 6 Nov 1972 [8 Nov 1971] 51135/72 Heading H1N Two switches 1, 2, Fig. 1, are interlocked by a flexible inelastic cable 7 extending between arms 5, 6 on the switch actuating shafts 3, 4 extending therefrom at such an angle that an attempted movement of any one switch (as 2) produces insufficient torque on the other switch (as 1) to move the switch 1 thereby locking the switch 2. The arrangement is particularly applicable to a pair of circuit breakers 1, 2 of which only one may be switched at one time. Both switches may however both be switched OFF since the end stops 15, 16 attached to the opposite ends of the cable 7 are both free to move away from their pivotal fixing sleeves 13, 14. In the embodiment described a Bowden cable is used having a sheath 8 of helical wire.
