Abstract

1399884 Surgical drape sheets KIMBERLYCLARK CORP 20 April 1972 18456/72 Heading A5R [Also in Division B5] A laminated surgical drape sheet comprises a fibrous base sheet 10 having a window 13 and a plastics film 11 also having a window, secured to the base sheet over an area around the window 13, normally tacky pressure-sensitive adhesive 20 being applied along a major. portion of opposite edges of the window on the side of the base sheet away from the plastics film. A plastics foam sheet 12, which may be coloured polyurethane, may be laminated to the plastics sheet 11. The base sheet may be a laminate comprising outer layers of wadding and inner layers of arranged fibres adhesively bonded together. The plastics film may be polyethylene, polypropylene, an ethylene/methyl acrylate copolymer or a vinyl chloride polymer film. The window may be substantially rectangular and have strips 20, 21 (30, 31 in Fig. 4) of adhesive protected by releasable peel strips 26, 27 (33, 34) on opposite straight sides thereof. A transfer tape comprising a polyethylene film strip having an adhesive on each side, one side being applied to the base sheet whilst the other is protected by a peel strip, may be employed to provide the pressure-sensitive adhesive. As shown in Fig. 4, the drape may be of the split kind, one side of the window then being open.
