Abstract

1399548 Coating glass with glass INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS MACHINES CORP 10 Nov 1972 [30 Dec 1971 (2)] 51959/72 Heading C1M [Also in Division H1] In the formation of a gas display panel, conductors 31 to 40 are located on the flat surface of a glass plate 12, the plate is heated in an atmosphere of gas such as to cause oxidation of the conductor surfaces and a coating 80 of glass is formed on the plate 12 which completely covers the conductors. The gas used was 90% N 2 + 10% H 2 and water vapour. The conductors consist of a first layer of chromium, a second layer of copper and a third layer of chromium. The coating 80 is sprayed on as a finely ground lead glass first in a nitrocellulose polymer binder in a solvent of amyl acetate. Spraying is effected in a halogenated hydrocarbon atmosphere.
