Abstract

Veneers.-In blocks of the kind formed by a combination of a number of rods &c. from which decorative layers are cut transversely, the blocks comprise a number of pieces between the interstices of which is pressed a plastic substance such as plaster of paris, or differently coloured rods of wood &c. are combined with a substance originally plastic and previously moulded into the required shape. Figs. 3 and 4 show such a block in which 6, 7 are strips, and 5 represents plastic material. The strips 7 are shaped or recessed as shown at 8 in Fig. 4, so that the design may be varied according to whether the sections or layers are cut on the lines 9 of cleavage or not. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 15661/92, [Class 87, Moulding &c.].
