Abstract

Process for colouring and forming reproducible patterns in cellulose acetate articles comprises first prepg. a cellulose acetate block which is opt. coloured, slicing the block to form plates or sheets, applying to one or both surfaces of each plate (or sheet) a transfer paper supporting a graphic pattern, transposing the pattern using a solvent, stacking the plates under a press and heating to combine the plates and cause diffusion of the transposed patterns to form a new block and slicing the latter into plates or sheets. Used in production of spectacles, combs, comb handles, fancy jewels etc. The process gives reproducible patterns.
