Abstract

1398653 Shelving A GLYNN 6 July 1973 32391/73 Heading A4B A shelf is provided at one or both ends with an expandable bracket which permits its fitment between two opposed walls. The bracket comprising a body portion 10 screwed or adhered to the underside of a shelf end, captive nuts 12 fixed in recesses in the body portion 10, a headed screw 13 engaged with each nut 12 and rotatable by use of a screw driver slot 13A in its shank end, and a clamping cheek 15 with recesses 15A to receive the screw heads 14, the clamping cheek being displaceable away from the body portion 10 by operation of the screws 13 so that the distal surface of the clamping cheek bears on a wall, and the distal surface comprising either a non-adhesive, peel off covering layer 17 which may be peeled off to expose an adhesive layer to engage the wall or, alternatively, comprising a layer of adhesive which is rendered active by applications of water. The shelf may be provided with a bracket at each end. Alternatively, a bracket is provided at one end and the opposite and is provided with adhesive. A long shelf may be additionally supported intermediately by a different form of bracket.
