Abstract

1398516 Making labels PLESSEY CO Ltd 2 Oct 1972 [28 Oct 1971] 50295/71 Heading B8F Labels or badges are formed by applying a magnetic paint stripe 3 by means of rollers 2 to a plastics or paper strip, magnetically imprinting data in said stripe by means of coding heads 5 and pressure rolls 6, said data being visually presented on a display 7, printing visible plain language or other data on the strip by means of a roller 8, passing the strip through an error detection device 10 for checking the validity of the magnetically imprinted data and having a cross display 11, and cutting said strip by means of a guillotine 12 into discrete labels or badges. A counter 9 is associated with the roller 8 and is operative through a feedback system to control operation of the apparatus such that a predetermined number of labels or badges are fabricated.
