Abstract
139,744. Feeny, V. F., (Pheumatic Cushion Co.). Dec. 24, 1919. Pneumatic springs. - A pneumatic suspension in which the compression cham. ber is closed consists of three cylinders of which the outermost 12 and innermost 10 are connected to a head-piece and are spaced apart to receive the middle cylinder. The middle cylinder is closed at its base, which carries a piston-rod the head of which fits the cylinder 12, dividing the space into upper and lower chambers 13, 14. The piston head is double, each part being formed with a downturned flange and covered with an upturned cup-leather. The cylinder 12 is provided with packing-rings 31 which bear against the cylinder 11 The lower chamber 14 is practically full of oil in the contracted position, and an oil seal is maintained above the piston. Air under pressure is forced into chamber 13 through the valve 37. An oil-supply valve is shown at 32.
