Abstract

1397292 Independent front suspensions BAYERISCHE MOTOREN WERKE AG 1 Sept 1972 [11 Sept 1971] 40549/72 Heading B7D In a double-wishbone or strut-type front suspension including lower suspension links formed by transverse arms 2 and oblique end portions of an anti-roll bar 3, curved bulged portions 30 are formed in the bar 3 between its end portions and a transverse central portion so that the axes 8 of resilient mountings 5 connecting the bar 3 to the vehicle body 4 extend obliquely of the vehicle and intersect at a point 12 on the same side of the pivot axis 11 of the bar as the connecting points 10 of the bar to the arms 2. The axes 8 extend at right angles to lines 13 joining the mountings 5 and connecting points 10 so that the influence of axial movement of the bar 3 in the mountings 10 on the steering geometry is minimized.
