Abstract

1397199 Harvesting machine WHITE MOTOR CORP OF CANADA Ltd 21 March 1973 [24 March 1972] 13695/73 Heading A1F A combine harvester 10 with a maize harvesting head 12 has a trash moving assembly 14 comprising a reel 20 with trash engaging spider arrangements 22 and pads 46 axially spaced on a shaft 24 so that one spider assembly 22 is approximately centred between the shielding of each harvesting roll assembly of the maize head. The shaft 24 is mounted for rotation on a support frame 26 pivotally connected at 30 with a frame 32 which is fixed at the forward end of the combine. The position of the assembly 20 can be adjusted by extendible tubular braces 34 and 34' and portions 56 telescoping associated side arms 28 (details Figs. 5 and 6 not shown). A pulley 70 mounted on the shaft 24 is driven by a system of pulleys and belt drives from the cross shaft 98 which carries the cross auger (99) Fig. 4 (not shown). Incoming material is moved downwardly between pairs of harvesting rolls in the corn head by pads 46 so as to prevent an accumulation of material across the shielding of the header units. In an alternative arrangement for special crop conditions spring steel finger members (50) Figs. 8 and 9 (not shown) may be used in place of the pads 46.
