Abstract

1397125 Insulating conductors STANDARD OIL CO 22 May 1972 [26 May 1971 24 April 1972] 23971/72 Heading H1A [Also in Divisions B2 and C3] Cu and Al magnet wires are insulated by coating with solutions of a poly(amide-acid) or poly(amide-imide) which may also contain guanidine carbonate as bonding agent. The poly(amide-acid) or poly(amide-imide) is prepared from (A) trimellitic anhydride, (B) # 1 aromatic diamine, and (C) #1 aliphatic lactam or amino-acid, where, by moles, (B)/(A) is 0À9- 1À1, and (C)/(A) is 0À3-2À5. (B) may have, e.g. 1-4 aromatic rings which may be fused or directly linked or connected by, e.g. -O-, alkylene, -CO-, -SO 2 -, or -S- linkages. (C) may contain 1-3 C atoms. The solvent may be, e.g. N-methylpyrrolidone, dimethylacetamide, dimethylformamide, dimethyl sulphoxide, cresylic acid, or m- or p-cresol.
