Abstract

1396969 Warp knitted stringer tapes YOSHIDA KOGYO KK 18 Aug 1972 [20 Aug 1971] 38714/72 Heading D1K [Also in Division E2] In a sliding clasp fastener, the greater part of the outer surface of each row of coupling elements E is covered by a warp-knitted strip 15 comprising pillars of stitches 16 connected by laid-in threads 20 so that the wales are separated by grooves which accommodate sewing stitches which secure the strip and elements to the edge of the stringer tape. As shown, the strip comprises three pillars 16, the marginal wales 16a being formed from thicker yarns or pairs of yarns. It also includes threads 18 forming a tricot pattern. Strips 15 may be joined in pairs by threads 17' to facilitate positioning them one on either side of each row of elements. A plurality of strips connected by water soluble plastic filaments may be knitted as a wide fabric. A coil with a core 21 may be sewn to the edge of a tape and protected by a strip 15. Strip 15 may comprise two identical pieces folded back to back.
