Abstract
1396967 Forging presses EUMUCO AG FUR MASCHINENBAU 21 Aug 1972 [21 Aug 1971] 38965/72 Heading B3H A multistage press 1 has a pair of blocks 47 each provided with a set of deforming die cavities 5, 5a-5e, 8a-8e, the lower block being movable in a direction 6 laterally of the press axis to effect transfer of a workpiece from one deforming station to the next and the upper block being movable towards and away from the lower block and housing one crossbeam 22, Fig. 3, of an ejector frame 21. An abutment 10 on the upper block serves to push the starting workpiece 26 in a cavity 5 for the initial transfer. A preliminary upsetting press 3 is provided to form a collar on the workpiece. The lower block 4 is moved laterally by an hydraulic piston-cylinder unit 15, 16, Fig. 3, and the upper block is moved axially of the press by an hydraulic piston-cylinder unit 19, 20. The ejector frame 21 comprises a pair of crossbeams 22, 23 connected by rods 24, 25. The crossbeam 22 has ejectors 31 for the recesses of the upper block 7 and is movable by piston-cylinder units 27, 28. The lower ejectors 33 are slidable in bushes 34 in the crossbeam 12 of the press. The supply of hydraulic fluid to the piston-cylinder units of the press 1 and the ejector frame 21 is controlled by spool valves 42, 43. In operation a workpiece with an upset collar is pushed by the abutment 10 into the cavity 5 of the block 4 as the block 7 is advanced towards the block 4, Fig. 4 (not shown). After shaping of workpieces at other stations of the press the block 7 is retracted to allow lateral movement of the block 4, which carries the new workpiece and the partially shaped workpieces, Fig. 7 (not shown). The block 7 is then advanced again to effect further deformation and retracted with the workpieces, Fig. 9, to allow the lateral return movement of the block 4 ready for a further cycle.
