Abstract
1396319 Feeding and transferring sacks SCREENING & APPLICATION ENGS Ltd 25 Jan 1973 [3 Nov 1971] 51005/71 Heading B8A Sacks on a plurality of slat conveyers 1 (only one shown), are transferred at predetermined intervals on to a single output conveyer 4. Each conveyer 1 feeds the sacks to a pneumatic pusher 5 which discharges the sacks successively to an accumulator shoot 6. The pusher 5 is stopped when an impulse sensor 7 is operated by a sack reaching the top of the shoot 6. The feed of the sacks on to the conveyer 4, by a feed device 8, is controlled by cam mechanism 9. The number of cams on the latter is equal to the number of conveyers 1. The sacks are thus released on to the conveyer 4 at a predetermined spacing, and are interleaved with the sacks fed from the other conveyers 1. The device 8 as shown, is a drum (15) (Figs. 2 and 3, not shown). The drum (15) is stopped when a sensor 10 is activated as a sack leaves the drum (15). The sensor 10 comprises a pair of counterbalanced arms (15) (Fig. 4, not shown), carrying articleengaging rollers (27).
