1396239 Punching device CITIUS BUROTECHNIK GmbH 26 Sept 1973 [30 Sept 1972] 45132/73 Heading B4B A device for the correction and splicing of punched tapes comprises a base-plate 1 with a row of punch holes 4, at least two index pins 8 provided on the plate, and mounted on a slide 6 which can be moved in a stepwise manner parallel to the row of punch holes, each slide being provided with an index mechanism for holding the index pin in an appropriate position with respect to a selected one of the punch holes. The punch holes 4 are formed in a cover-plate 2 secured to the base-plate by screws 3; alternatively the cover and base-plates may be of a one-piece construction. The slides 6 are provided with hand-grips 6a and index stops (10), Fig. 3 (not shown), adapted to be engaged by a spring-loaded ball 11. The index pins are movable in a slots 9 formed in the cover-plate so that the stops can be set in a selected position. A punch 18 is slidably mounted, the action of a spring 19, in a carriage 15 which is slidable on a shutter member 14 pivoted on the base-plate. The carriage is formed with stops 20 engageable by a spring-loaded ball 20; the number of stops correspond with those on the slides 6. In a modification, the carriage can be dispensed with and a row of guide holes provided on the shutter for the punch. The punch is actuated by a knob 24 provided with corners 24a, Fig. 1, which can be aligned with markings 23 on the shutter. A pivotally-mounted knife blade 25b is arranged to co-operate with a fixed knife 25a in order to trim the ends of a tape prior to splicing with adhesive tape.
