Abstract

1396077 Cleaning headlamp glasses and windscreens ROBERT BOSCH GmbH 27 June 1973 [28 June 1972] 30684/73 Heading A4F [Also in Division F2] A wiping system for vehicle headlamp glasses or windscreens has a drive motor 15 driving worm gearing 16, 19 coupled via a crank pin 20 and linkage 21, 23 to a wiper shaft 18 for oscillating the latter, and flexible cables 29b, 30b attached to the shaft 18 transmit the oscillating movement to a second wiper shaft 27. The cables 29b, 30b are cores of Bowden cables and interconnect rocker arms 26, 28 on the shafts 18, 27. The ends of the Bowden cable sheaths 29, 30 are secured to support plates 31, 34, the screw threaded attachments 32, 33 to the plate 31 being relatively adjustable to vary the relative angular positions of the wiper arms 24, 24a. Alternatively each Bowden cable sheath is in two lengths joined by an adjustable screw-threaded coupling whereby the effective total length of each sheath may be varied. The rocker arms 26, 28 may be replaced by pulleys.
