Abstract
1395909 Liquid cargoes transferring; counterweighting EMCO WHEATON UK Ltd 1 Aug 1972 [18 June 1971] 28746/71 Headings B8E and B8B Liquid transfer apparatus comprises a jib 2 pivoted on a support 1 and an articulated linkage 6 and an arm 7 forming a liquid flow conduit. To increase the reach of the apparatus, when required, an extension tube 13 is provided connected to a T joint at the end of the arm 7. The tube 13 has an inoperative position, Fig. 2, where it is latched at 16, 17 parallel to the arm 7 and its end is sealed by a plate 22 while connection is made from the arm 7 to a container through a connector 9 and an operative position, Fig. 4, extending the arm 7 and held in position by bolting projections 18, 19, together, in which case the connector 9 is secured to the end of the tube 13 and the plate 22 replaces it to seal one of T joint openings. Primary and secondary counterweights 10, 11 are provided for the jib 2 and linkage 6 and trimmer weights 20 balanced about the axis 21 to avoid affecting the main balance, are provided to compensate for the extension arm 13 in its operative position.
