Abstract

1395520 Acidising wells DOW CHEMICAL CO 14 Dec 1973 [18 Dec 1972 1 Oct 1973] 58099/73 Heading E1F A composition for acidising a subterranean formation comprises an aqueous solution of an acid and a cationic surfactant to reduce the reaction rate of the acid with the formation. The preferred acid is hydrochloric and the preferred surfactant is a C 8 -C 18 primary amine such as cocoamine. The composition may include a further surfactant such as a quaternary salt, and may be emulsified with a hydrocarbon, such as kerosene.
