1395411 Furniture frames; connecting furniture in rows SWINGLINE Inc 1 May 1972 [7 May 1971 21 June 1971] 20056/72 Headings A4G and A4H [Also in Division F2] A frame unit for supporting suspension type files as in Specification 34381/74, 3398/75 (see Division B6) comprises hollow upright corner members 12, Fig. 1 connected by cross members 16, 17, 45, 46, having spigot end portions fitted in pairs of horizontally aligned openings 14, 15, 34, 35 in the corner members 12, the pairs of openings at each corner being arranged at different levels, each adjacent intersecting pair of spigot end portions at each corner being retained by an internal locking member engaging groove means in both the spigot portions. In a first form, Fig. 10, each spigot portion has a pair of spaced V-section grooves 19 and 20 and each locking member is of U-form with legs 22 which interlock with the grooves 19 and 20. The ends of members 12 are closed by end caps 24 provided with sockets 27 for the reception of pins 28 so that then the units can be vertically stacked see Figs. 3, 4, (not shown). The units can be joined side-by-side by brackets 52, Fig. 2, apertured at 54 to receive pins 28 see Figs. 4, 5, (not shown). In a second form, Fig. 6A, each locking member is integral with an end cap 36A and comprises two opposed pairs of open-ended slots such as 44A and 46A of different depths where inner edge portions interlock with rectangular section grooves 34A, 35A and 32A, 33A in the spigot end portions. The cap sides have projections such as 56A, 57A frictionally engaging the inner surfaces of the corner member. The cap can be removed from the corner member by a self-tapping tool (52A), Fig. 9A, (not shown) inserted in a socket 48A.
