1395390 Cabinets M BACH 28 Sept 1972 [28 Sept 1971] 44921/72 Heading A4B [Also on Division E2] An article of furniture having a compartment limited by a frame and closable by a lid or door 6 which is selectively pivotal about one of two parallel axes 10, 12 each of which is adjacent a different one of two opposite sides of the frame, has the opposite ends of a first guide rod 11 pivotally connected at one axis 10 to the door and at the other axis 12 to the frame, and the opposite ends of a second guide rod 21 pivotally connected at the one axis 10 to the frame and to the other axis 12 to the door. The guide rods 11 and 21 are received in recesses 7 provided in the door. In the preferred embodiment, the door is vertical and pivotal about horizontal axes. When pivotted about the top axis 12 the door is retained in its open position by means of an angled extension 14 of the rod 11 engaging with a support member 23. In an alternative embodiment, Fig. 5 (not shown), the extension 14 is provided with a pivotal retaining member (25) for engagement with the supporting member (23). When pivotted about the lower axis 10 the door is held in the open position by means of a stop (not shown) provided or on the guide rod 21 for abutment with the frame.
