Abstract

1395187 Air conditioning CENTRE SCIENTIFIQUE ET TECHNIQUE DU BATIMENT and COMPAGNIE ELECTROMECANIQUE 24 April 1972 [3 May 1971] 18997/72 Heading F4V [Also in Division B1] A method of regulating the humidity of air circulating in a building comprises (a) measuring selectively the following dry-bulb temperatures only of the air to be circulated: (i) that of the incoming air before humidification, (ii) that of any air leaving the outlet of a humidifier and (iii) that of any mixture of humidified and non- humidified air, (b) passing the incoming air when the humidity requires regulation through the humidifier or the humidifier and a bypass thereto to obtain a mixture of humidified and non-humidified air or, when no humidity regulator is required, through the bypass alone, (c) measuring the temperature of the water circulating through the humidifier, (d) thermally isolating the humidifier from extraneous heat losses, (e) recycling the humidifying water which has not evaporated into the air being humidified in a quantity which is such, with respect to the quantity of water evaporated, that the meassured water temperature is substantially equal to what would be the wet-bulb temperature of the air leaving the humidifier, (f) varying as necessary the temperature of the incoming air before humidification and/or the relative amounts of the air passing through the humidifier and bypass in accordance with the temperature measurements thereby to ensure that the circulating air contains a weight of water at a required minimum value.
